300 - Morning with the candy corn mohawk

Where's Dim Sum? #300 - Morning with the candy corn mohawk

Dim Sum wonders if the parrot's candy-corn mohawk was edible too.

I think this is my favorite of the set. I'm using some vignette effects on this set and it's just right for the mood I'm going for.

I thought it would be difficult to find interesting shadows in this sim, because it's mostly a "cultivated" garden and some buildings. But the shadows created by the greenhouse panes are beautiful.

If I had a greenhouse like this in real life, I'd be spending all my mornings there.

The "Marilyn" dress was created by Inga Wind (Inga Wind Clothing).
The "Chaise - Wicker  White" was created by Pamela Galli (La Galleria).

299 - Caged bird in the greenhouse

Where's Dim Sum? #299 - Caged bird in the greenhouse

Dim Sum is overwhelmed by all the birds in the greenhouse. Oh, what a torture to have to decide which one to chase!

Absolutely gorgeous greenhouse! I love the structure itself. The plants are gorgeous. The birds are beautiful and not too overwhelming.

A long time ago, one of my friends at work admired the nice big plant I had at my office window. It had big broad leaves and white leaf-like flowers.

She asked, "What do you call it?"

Suddenly, I panicked. I had given my car a name years prior, because a neighbor called her truck "Betsy". I wondered if there was some custom about naming plants too. So, I blurted the first name that came to mind, "Claudia."

I think my friend wanted to smack me then and there. She meant the name of that plant species. :D

It was a peace lily.

Anyway, that broad-leafed plant just behind the cage is a peace lily. The materials on that leaf makes it look so realistic, except I thought it was a banana leaf at first.

298 - Fountain at the crossroads

Where's Dim Sum? #298 - Fountain at the crossroads

Dim Sum listens to all the flowing water and imagines all the negative ions floating about.

Difficult to light. I could have used a more dramatic windlight if it weren't for the full bright plants. Then I had to derez the flying parrots because they were also full bright and flat. They might have looked good on a machinima because of the movement, but not for a still photo.

297 - Scrying the crystal ball

Where's Dim Sum? #297 - Scrying the crystal ball

Dim Sum sees her future in the large crystal ball... or was that bird poop?

Of today's set, this one has a different windlight, simply because the subject required it. The angle kinda distorted the angel's body. And I lost her head! I swear it's in there somewhere....

The statue was created by Katy Dirkle (Katy's Kreations Full Perm Building Supplies).

296 - What dreams may come

Where's Dim Sum? #296 - What dreams may come

Dim Sum eyes the deer and slowly creeps forward as she imagines herself in the savanna, hunting wild game, like her ancestors before her.

My model is Kacedy, who was already sitting there when I was looking around. I didn't want to derez her though, because she becomes the point of interest in the scene.

The many colors of the various field flowers reminded me of that walking-into-the-painting scene in the movie "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams and Cuba Gooding Jr. I love that movie; every scene was eye candy.

While I was combining the screenshots of the settings for the Technical Notes section below, I realized that this (and #295) kinda look good in black and white. So I created the b&w version but with color levels tweaked a bit and then the image cropped for better composition. I think I like the b&w version better.

The "deer" was created by Hannah Kozlowski.

Where's Dim Sum? #295 - Let's do lunch

Dim Sum paces back and forth as she ponders her dilemma -- the raspberry cake slice or the chocolate cake slice.

294 - I dream of lighthouses

Where's Dim Sum? #294 - I dream of lighthouses

Dim Sum wonders why it's called a Dreaming House. It does make her dreamy. However, any nice day makes her dreamy.

I couldn't decide whether to focus on the Dreaming House or the lighthouse. I couldn't get a good composition with the lighthouse, so that answered my question. :)

293 - Shack in the swamp

Where's Dim Sum? #293 - Shack in the swamp

Dim Sum watches the sailboat as she sniffs the salty dank air of the swamp and the abandoned fishing shack.

I don't think I did justice to this part of the sim. There are so many things to see, and each area is so different from each other, so it's very surprising to find out that they're all in the same sim. But they don't clash with each other! They flow from one style to another seamlessly. Very well done!
